Pop3Guard scans your email as you download it and replaces suspicious character sequences such as "<IFRAME" and "<Script". It works by running a virtual pop3 server on your machine that your email client connects to instead of your ISPs.
How to use the scanner !
Download the exe file to a directory on your hard drive.
Next create a file called 'pop3guard.bat' in the same directory
and open it in notepad.
Copy and paste the following line into it,
changing the arguments as appropriate.
POP3GUARD.EXE <Remote-IP> <Remote-Port>
Where:
<Remote-IP>
: The IP Address of the remote pop3 server.
<Remote-Port>
: The Port of the pop3 server to connect to.
Next create a shortcut to your bat file and place it into the start-up folder.
Then you'll need to re-configure your email client to collect email
from localhost (or 127.0.0.2).
Finally if you are intending to use this program for 'real-world' email
protection then I would strongly recommend using the option, in your client, to
'leave messages on the server' so that you can retrieve the unfiltered versions
at a later date if required. Please note this may require some knowledge of the
pop3 protocol.
You may use this program for non-commercial purposes only.
